Liew Thow Lin is the real life Magnetic Man of the world. In Malaysia, he is known as the Human Magnet. Liew Thow Lin has the ability to stick metal objects to his body just as a magnet does. He has showcased his ability at a number of events around the world, sticking objects weighing up to 2kg.
The source behind Lin's marvelous abilities is no magnetism. Scientists have found no magnetic fields in Lin's body but say that the effect is due to a powerful "suction effect" of his skin. Whatever the reason but the ability seems to be genetic as Lin's grandchildren can also stick objects just like their Grandpa.

Wim Hof - The Ice Man

Strange Places: Door To Hell, Turkmenistan

Have you ever thought what hell would actually be like? If you've ever been so curious to know how would hell actually look like then you don't need to die for that because you can find a totally remarkable place on your own earth which will actually give you a glimpse of hell. The Kara-Kum desert of Turkmenistan, near the village of Darvaza, homes the crater which is allegedly by the locals as "The Door to Hell". The jaw dropping effect is truly a must see sight for any serious explorer on earth.

The Door to Hell

The door to hell is actually a burning gas crater in the Central Asian country of Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan now an independent state was under the control of the Soviet Union until 1991. The country is rich in natural resources. Natural gas is one of the biggest wealth of the country. Back in 1971, Soviet prospectors were conducting gas drill in the Kara-Kum Desert when they came across an underground chamber close to the village of Darvaza. The accidental discovery of the gas chamber resulted into the collapse of the roof of the chamber leaving a giant sink hole-like gas crater 25m deep and with a diameter of 60-70 meter exposed to the world.
The gas concentration inside the crater were so high that no one dared to go down. The exposed crater filled with poisonous natural gas threatened the danger of poisoning for the nearby population of Darvaza and the decision was made to ignite the gas in the crater. So the crater was set on fire as decided and it is burning since then. The Russians thought that the fire would go out after a few days but the hole is on fire continuously for the last 37 years.

The story now

Putting all the economic losses and the wastage of quality natural gase aside, the Door to Hell has been a serious ecological threat. In April 2010, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow visited the site and ordered the crater to be closed and measurements be taken to limit its influence in the area.

Strange Facts To Blow Off Your Brains

Check out some of the weirdest facts about the weirdest stuff that will totally blow your mind off.

Chickens can live without a Head

If the brain stem is left intact after beheading a chicken, it can continue to live quite in harmony. There is one documented case of a headless chicken, the Miracle Mike, who lived for an impressive 18 months without a head. The famous story was born when a farmer, Lloyd Olsen, missed his axe and the brain stem of Mike was left intact, leaving one ear and most of the brain stem intact. The Headless Chicken was fed with a mixture of milk and water with an eye dropper.

Plants have Family Values

Canadian researchers have found that plants can have complex social interactions. They will grow more aggressively when planted close to unrelated plants than when they grow near ones they are related to. So, don't forget to think before you plant a potato near a tomato.

Crickets can tell you the temperature outside

Crickets can chirp for multiple reasons, from mating calls to predator warnings. But can a cricket help you to determine the temperature. Well, they can even tell you the exact temperature in the Fahrenheit scale.
Yes! anyone listening to the cricket chirps outside can determine the temperature with a simple mathematical method.
  1. Count the number of chirps a cricket makes in 15 seconds.
  2. Add 37 to it.
  3. You have an estimate of the temperature in Fahrenheit.
Eureka! you have the temperature in Fahrenheit.

Kissing is good for health

We know kissing as a social pleasantry, the appropriate ending to a date and a means of connecting with ourmain squeeze. But apart from being a passionate act of love, kissing actually does a body very, very good.
Researches have shown that kissing can help improve immunity and increase the level of oxytocin in the body which naturally relaxes the body. Kissing not only strengthens your defense but also burns calories and keep your facial muscles strong. Talk about a better method of caring for health.

We are insect eaters

Humans eat over 1400 insect species. About 500 are consumed because people enjoy eating them and the rest slip past us in bread, fruit, vegetables and flour. Let's face it, we're all insect eaters.

The 5 Bizarre Foods from Around the World

The weird & bizarre foods from around the world. The list of the 5 weirdest and strangest bizarre foods that people around the world love to taste.

Fugu (Japan)

Would you eat something which can actually kill you? Probably most of us will not waste a second to move our heads in refusal but this is not the case in Japan. The Fugu (or the Puffer Fish as you probably call it in English) is lethally poisonous with its tetrodotoxin which shuts down electrical signal in nerves, paralyzing muscles and at last concluding to death. But the dangers are not enough to avoid the hungry Japanese.
The fugu is sliced so thinly that the patterns of the plate can be seen through the meat, to dilute the effect of the poison. This requires extremely trained professionals who are specially licensed by the Japanese Government. This bizarre food can cost from ¥2,000 (approx. US$20) to an awesome ¥10,000-¥20,000 (about US$100-$200) per meal. Surprisingly, it is the only food officially forbidden to the Emperor of Japan for his safety.

Sannakji (Korea)

Octopus has lived in our imaginations for centuries as a demon. A monster wrecking ships and pulling sailors with its deadly eight legs in the darkness of oceans. But would you like to see a totally living octopus, with its eight horrible legs wriggling on your plate? this is what you will actually get if you order a Sannakji.
Nakji is Hangu for 'small octopus'. The Sannakji is a bizarre food fonded in Korea. The sannakji consists of nakji cut into small pieces and served immediately. Occasionally you can see the octopus tentacles squirming in your plate.
Since the suction cups on the tentacles are still active therefore special care is taken to avoid choking while swallowing. There have been cases of deaths due to choking, the latest reported in Gwangju.

Casu Marzu (Italy)

You should have probably eaten cheese all your life. But this one comes with a twist. Casu Marzu is Sardinian for 'rotten cheese'. It is a traditional Sardinian sheep milk cheese with living larvae of the cheese fly.
Casu Marzu goes one step ahead of the usual fermentation process. The larvae in the cheese digest cheese fat, forming a very soft moist texture. If you think that eating such a cheese would be yucky then think again because Casu Marzu not only comes with just the cheese but with also the larvae themselves, still alive. This bizarre food is eaten while the larvae are still alive because it is considered to be toxic after the maggots are dead. So don't be surprised if you find something wriggling in your mouth.

Balut (Philippines)

Talking about weird foods, you can't keep this great delicacy from Philippines behind. The balut is one of the most ridiculous and bizarre foods you could ever think of. Imagine peeling an egg and finding a little chick inside? Well, this is what Balut is all about.
Balut is 'wrapped' in Filipino and Malay. It is a fertilized duck egg which is boiled and served salted. It is a popular street food in many Asian countries including Philippines, China, Laos,Vietnam, etc.  The eggs are savored for their balance of textures and flavors. The balut is enjoyed by sipping the broth around the embryo before the shell is peeled, and the yolk and young chick inside can be eaten.

Baby Mice Wine (Hong Kong)

What better to wash down your gelatinous lumps of tuna than a nice chilled cup of rotten mice? What better indeed.
The Baby Mice Wine is quite popular in China and Korea as a traditional health tonic. Apparently tasting like raw gasoline, it is believed to cure anything from asthma to liver diseases. Little mice, eyes still closed, only a few days old, are plucked from their little mother's womb. Well it gets even worse for them when they are dropped in a bottle of rice wine, still alive, and drowned.
Surely many of us have eaten the worm at the bottom of a tequila bottle but how many of us could stomach a mouth full of baby mice?

Ben Whittaker: The Boy Who Feels No Pain

the-boy-who-feels-no-pain
One day, a nine-month old boy picks up a piping hot chip from his father's plate, burning three of his little fingers but shedding not even a single tear. At 17-months, he breaks his heel but simply runs away from the doctor without even a little concern. Meet Ben Whittaker, the one-in-a-billion boy who feels no pain.

Ben's parents, Joane and Wayne Whittaker were surprised at their little boy's amazing resistance to pain when he pulled out one of this teeth without even a blink, but soon realized that he was no ordinary child. Ben is victim (or victor) to an extremely rare genetic disorder which make him completely pain resistant.
The disorder, known as congenital indifference to pain, was first diagnosed in the 1930s. Only 32 other cases have been identified before. Experts believe the condition is caused by the failure of a substance called betaendorphin which occurs naturally in the body and modulates pain sensations.
A no-pain-sensation can sound like a superhero advantage but medical experts believe that the condition can pose some serious dangers to Ben. Specialists at Sheffield Children's Hospital are worried that he could bite off the end of his tongue without knowing it and have suggested removing all his baby teeth to save him from hurting himself.
Ben's mother, says she dare not let Ben out of her sight for a moment. Speaking at the family home in Royston, South Yorkshire, she said: "At first we just thought he was an extra tough little cookie, but gradually we began to realise he was just too tough to be true."
